VANITHA SAHYA VANI CASE
STUDIES
1. Srikala aged 40
yrs working in a Government Department approached with all hesitation,
married to a businessman and has a daughter of 14 yrs. Only one year she was
happy married life. Husband met with sudden loss, started relaxing, consuming
alcohol. Slowly he has addicted to it, then he
started visiting Turf Club hoping to get back his lost money. But he started
losing more and more. He used to come home late in the night and harasses his
wife for sex. He was sadist at that time. Next day he used to suspect her
seeing all the marks on her body that other have
used her. Srikala couldn't tolerate his sexual harassment and his nagging
behavior.
Srikala depressed and
frustrated many time though of committing suicide. At last she asked the help
of Vanitha Sahayavani.
2. Shanthamma working
in HMT Factory, married 13 yrs back and having one daughter of 11 yrs. They
are living together for years with a break of 2 yrs in between lot of
misunderstanding developed, husband and in-laws
started suspecting her and had false perception towards her. Due to
harassment, mentally and physically she had to depart from them because
husband's partiality towards parents and neglected her in all aspects. At the
crisis time when she had no hoped to live she approached Vanitha sahayavani
for help. Counselling session helped the entire family to realize their
mistakes and daughter in laws rights, status in the family.
The couple were reconciled and are happy, Counsellor visited
their house for follow-up.
3. Sumalatha aged
about 28 yrs belonged to a middle class family. She completed her B.ED in
Chitradurga. She got married to Nataraj working and residing in Bangalore. Mr.Nataraj
lived in joint family, consisting of himself, his mother, elder sister and
her husband. After the marriage to Sumalatha he claimed to live in joint
family. There was no problem for her during
the first year of marriage. Problem started after she became pregnant.
For the reason her husband and husband's sister started harassing her. Even
her mother in law also joined them. To her bad luck, they convinced her
husband and finally she got pregnancy terminated. AB days advanced. Nataraj's
brother in law started making advanced, he may create more problems to her,
instead if she agrees, he will set right her marital
life. They somehow convinced Nataraj for second marriage and gradually
Nataraj started sleeping separately. Sumalatha felt that they might be eying
on property and hence they don't want her to deliver a child. When her
husband's brother in laws advances became too much and family members
harassment became unbearable. She complained to Vanitha Sahyavani
, counsellors at Vanitha Sahayavani counselled her and other family
members also they were warned of legal consequence of their behavior.
Presently there is a change in their behavior of her family members.
Harassment has come down no discussion about second marriage to her husband.
She says thanks to the intervention of Vanitha sahaya vani. She desires for a
better quality marital life.
4. Komala a 20 year
old married girl. Her father is a senior officer in Government of Karnatka.
She has one younger sister. While "studying in 2nd PUC she came to
contact with an auto driver who resides in the same locality. She used to be
friendly with him as he belongs to the same area. Frequency of contact
increased. He started frequenting her in the college also. In one such
meeting he proposed to her, but she refused. She did not mention about this
to her parents. But he continued to meet her. One day, in the morning, while
she was putting Rongoli in the courtyard of her house, he came in an auto and
kidnapped her. He kept her in a room, raped her. He threatened her with dire
consequences if she tells her parents. She kept on crying. He took pity on
her, took her to Register office and forced her to married her. After 10-12
days he brought her and left her in her parents
house. In the meantime her parents complained to the police about her
disappearance. After listening to her story, they approved the marriage and
kept both daughter and son in law with them. After a few days of staying with
them, suddenly, one day without give her any clue, her husband disappeared
from home. Till now they do not know here he
is and what he is doing. On enquiry they found that he cheated another girl
and kill her. Komala and her parents approached Vanitha Sahayavani for help.
Since they could not trace the where about of her husband a case has been
filed in the family court for divorce. She is awaiting courts verdict for
divorce. She was counselld by Counselors to stand her own. Komala desires to
study MBA.
