Dear Bangaloreans,
Bangalore has been developing and growing very fast, with a good
degree of globalisation.
While the positive aspects of this development are like increased
transportation, information and communication facilities: increased job
opportunities, economic development, etc. The negative aspect is the
misuse of the same facilities by anti- social and criminal minded
individuals.
These issues have added
new dimensions to policing - especially metropolitan policing. The
Scenario in respect of duties concerning maintenance of law and order,
prevention and detection of crime and curbing and prevention of illegal
activities got added with VIP security, anti - terrorism measures, etc.
The enormous increase in the number of vehicles before the growth of the
required infrastructural support - like widening of roads, parking spaces,
alternative mass - transport, etc. Could catch up, has made the traffic
maintenance an enormous and difficult task.
The force has been
gearing itself to meet these various challenges. This is in two aspects.
On one hand efforts are on for the increase in the man - power,
acquisition of new equipment, vehicles, etc. On the other hand,
upgrading the skills of existing man-power through various refresher
or short term courses, full utilization of available technology in
the investigation, traffic management, weapons and tactics,
computerization, etc. Also,adeguate importance is being given to the
aspects of Police - Public interface like responsiveness of Police,
registration of cases , behaviour with public, principles of equality and
fairness, transparency, etc.
It is our endeavour to
do our best in the discharge of our duties and raising positively to meet
the changing and growing social needs and expectations.
