This Traffic Training Institute was started during the year 1975. The objective of the Traffic Training Institute is to impart training to Police personnel with regard to the provisions of Motor Vehicle Act (M.V. Act), Motor Vehicles Rules and related provisions of Law. The Police personnel under training will also be trained in the physical control and regulation of traffic with manual signals.

The Traffic Training Institute conducts two types of courses:

Basic traffic training course

Short term training course

The Basic training course:
This course is specially designed for the Police personnel of the department. The training includes Indoor and Outdoor training. In Indoor training, the trainees will be taught on the provisions of Motor Vehicles Act, Motor Vehicle Rules and Accident Investigation etc. In Outdoor training, the trainees will be taught about the Traffic signals and physically trained in the control and the regulation of the traffic.

Short term training course:
This course is designed for the outsiders, such as drivers of Public sector under takings, Military personnel, Autorickshaw drivers, N.C.C. cadets and Home Guards etc.
