During the year 1994, J.C. Road, Lalbagh Road, Kempegowda Road and Seshadri Road, were made as one ways in Order to reduce congestion and accidents and to ensure safe and smooth flow of traffic.

Today in Bangalore City, the vehicular population has exceeded 15 lakh and there is frequent traffic congestion at many road intersections, viz., Hudson Circle, Town Hall Circle, Siddalingaiah Circle etc. In order to reduce congestion and pollution level it has been decided to implement one way system in and around Hudson Circle area, on an experimental basis.

The following Roads are made as One Way Roads:
  • Nrupathunga Road In view of increasing traffic and congestion around Hudson Circle area, one way system was introduced from 6-08-2001 on temporary basis.

After the trial run, for the last two months members of the public and some institutions have suggested to make Nrupathunga Road as two-way, in the interest of office goers, patients and their relatives who go to Saint Martha's Hospital, and also to reduce vehicular movement inside Cubbon park, which has become hazardous.

Therefore, after careful study, it is decided to convert Nrupathunga Road as two-way road from 14-11-2001, 7-00 am, onwards. However, one way from K.R.Junction towards Police Corner will accommodate BMTC buses, but not in the opposite direction namely from Police Corner to K.R.junction.

  • Kasturba Road is made one way from Hudson Circle to Siddalingaiah Circle. Motorists travelling on this road can proceed towards Queen Statue Circle and can also take a free Right turn towards Vittal Mallya Road and proceed to Raja Ram Mohan Roy Circle, Richmond Circle etc.

Entry of vehicles into Cubbon Park from Hudson Circle, intending to go to High Court and Vidhana Soudha is permitted.

  • R.R.M.R. Road is made one way from R.R.M.R. Circle to Hudson Circle. Motorists travelling on R.R.M.R. Road Intending to proceed to Lalbagh Road, can enter Devanga Hostel Road (LMV only) and other vehicles, can travel upto N.R. Square, and proceed towards Larbagh Road via., Mission Road. Further, they can also proceed towards City Market via Town HalI Circle. They can proceed towards Police Corner and join District Office Road. Further they can also take & free right turn towards Kasturba road and proceed towards Cubbon Park, M.G. Road etc,. via Slddalingiah Circle.

At Hudson Circle, vehicles are allowed inside Cubbon park, but they can proceed . only towards K.R. Circle and Nrupathunga Road only. The movement of vehicles from Central Library is barred towards Gopala Gowda Circle.
